Mackanzie Dinh, MS, CCRC
Project Manager
Dr. William Meurer, MD
Principal Investigator
Dr. Meurer graduated from Ohio State for college, and University of Cincinnati for medical school. He trained as an emergency physician in Cleveland, Ohio and came to Michigan for stroke fellowship. He has stayed on as a faculty member doing research in stroke, health disparities, and cardiac arrest. He continues to see patients in the emergency department and with the stroke team. He enjoys biking, the outdoors, and community theatre.
Dr. Lesli Skolarus, MD
Principal Investigator
Dr. Skolarus graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine. Her research focuses on ensuring that all people have equitable health and well-being. Dr. Skolarus’ is a stroke neurologist and sees patients at the University of Michigan. In her down time, she enjoys reading, running, Zumba and takeout food.
Mackenzie, a Michigan native, graduated from the University of Michigan with her Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience. She later earned her Masters of Science in Global Health where her passion for community-based research and health equity took root. In her free time, she enjoys listening to podcasts, doing yoga, and spending time with family and friends.
Adam Flood
Research Coordinator
Adam received his Bachelor of Arts in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. He is currently pursuing dual Master of Public Health and Master of Public Policy degrees at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Adam’s primary interests revolve around public service and social policy to increase healthcare access and health equity within communities of need. He enjoys attending University of Michigan sporting events and as a Flint native, an occasional Torch Burger.
Candace Whitfield
Research Coordinator
Candace is a Saginaw, MI native, an aspiring physician and a 1st generation college grad from Howard University. Her devotion to community service stems from childhood. However, her passion for health equity and equality was sparked during her time at Howard and continues to evolve in her work with Reach Out. In her free time, Candace enjoys outdoor running, DIY self-care, cooking and running her own hometown non-profit organization.
Deborah Trimble
Research Coordinator
Deborah is a Michigan transplant to the University of Michigan Medical School. She is a Pat Tillman Scholar and a military veteran. Public Health studies at the University of Pennsylvania sparked a concern for disparities and health equity, which led her to join the ReachOut team. Her interests include Emergency Medicine and its role in community health and disaster resilience. In her ‘not-so-free’ time she can be found volunteering with disaster response and veteran organizations in Southeast Michigan or building wooden craft projects.
Zahera Farhan
Research Coordinator
Zahera is a Flint native, with a Bachelors of Science in Healthcare Administration and a Masters in Public Health both from the University of Michigan – Flint. Her background in research, community education and passion for promoting preventive health care brought her to the Reach Out team. She enjoys learning about new cultures and in her free time she enjoys yoga, biking, lots of coffee and values her family, friends and faith.
